The Fletcher building which Kuusto Koivula purchased last spring, has been torn down. I was one of the ancient landmarks of the village, built on the site of the Appleton Inn and later moved across the street.

Cool and slight rain during night; fair and cloudy day with thunder in afternoon; wind west. David working at Newcombs’ in forenoon and went to Boston with Mr. Newcomb in afternoon. I cut John Preston’s lawn and trimmed round house and trees. Got some blackberries this afternoon on the dump. Got letter from May.
