William Jurian Kaula diary

Spain grants an Armistice. She yields to the advice of the Pope and the Powers after a hard-fought struggle in the Spanish Cabinet. An armistice is not usually granted unless asked for by both contending parties. It remains to be seen if the Insurgents will accept it as they have thus far declared that they would not accept an armistice. It does not mean a cessation of war in Cuba but it may cause delay for hostile action in the States. The President will send his message to Congress tomorrow just the same

James Roger diary entry
10th April 1909 (Saturday)
Frost very cold west wind. David at Miss Palmer’s. I took turnips to M. Robbins and brought meat, laundry, and incubator tank from Farrar’s. Got letters and Easter cards from Bayshore, papers from Roslin. Flagstaff at Club House blown down.
Nice view. That has to be a view of Bank Village. Waterloom pond is seen in the lower right. It would be interesting to identify the homes in this photo.
