THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.
Glad clouds rent the sky When at word of command
On that Fourth of July, From the wise of the land, Rang out to the people,
The bell in the steeple Henceforth we'll be free
From a power o'er the sea." "Give us freedom or death !" Went out on the breath
Filled with Liberty's fire, And the glad shout again, Said amen! and amen!.
Of a patriot sire

THE LAND WE LIVE IN.
Hurrah, for the land we live in!
Over which, from sea to sea,
From Pilgrim's Rock to Alaska Floats the banner of the free.
'Tis the land our fathers fought for,
The land for which they bled, And its fair fields have been watered With the patriot blood they shed.
None brighter wakes in the sunshine, All alive with the arts of Peace; None fairer sleeps in the moonlight, When the hum of its toilers cease!
'Tis the land all the nations honor, And where e'er its flag is unfurled, Taking new heart of courage, Man again has hope for the world!
God bless the land we live in! God help us on land and sea,
In North-land or in South-land, Her faithful sons to be.

If Alice Charrois had attended Appleton Academy she would have been a senior in 1938. Dose the NIHS have Appleton yearbooks?
