1941 Money for Appleton is Raised by Benefit Games
About $60 was raised for Appleton Academy's rebuilding fund in a, benefit basketball game at Peterboro Monday night between all star players in the Monadnock League. Team B composed of Wilton, Milford and Appleton high school students, basketball players who have starred in the 1940-1941 series, defeated Team A, Conant, Peterboro and Marlboro players, 31 to 29, in a close battle.
A Milford player, Wally Stitham, was one of the outstanding all stars, and with Boom-boom Brenner and Buddy Richardson, Peterboro and Marlboro aces, showed the crowd what superlative basketball playing is like.
