Open Field
A view of an open field with a windmill. Note the location of the old Baptist church. The building behind the windmill is the Samuel Tarbell-Ames house which is located on Academy and Manley Road.
Another photo shows a clearer view of the Tarbell-Ames house. A windmill can be seen on the left, not sure if it is the same one or another. Note the road with the stone walls. Could that be Manley road?

James Roger diary entry
22nd (Monday)
Warm and dusty, Wind varying NE to NW. David took Berkley, May and the Bairns to Depot brought some Hungarian seed. Then went to Lonie’s. I cut the Davis lot in morning. Fred Preston arrived today and the usual hilarious and silly demonstrations of the Gordons. I bug deathbed the potatoes today and went to assembly at the Academy in the evening. Got letter from Jim at Long Island.
*Perhaps this was written “dug and bedded the potatoes”

Bringing gravestones back to life
The Monadnock Ledger featured an article about Kim Black and Carl Toko restoring gravestones in New Ipswich. Click here for link.
I wonder what "the usual hilarious and silly demonstrations of the Gordons" meant.
