Death of Mrs. Sarah Jane Barr Perry.
Mrs. Sarah J. B. Perry died in Chicago, Feb. 5, after a brief illness, aged 79 years, 6 months, 24 days. She was a daughter of Dr. James and Mrs. Laura (Bellows) Barr. Her father was a native of this town and her mother of Walpole, N. H. The family, originally consisted of seven children, namely: Mrs. Samuel T. Ames, Mrs. S. J. Perry, George, James, Miss C. F. Barr, James 2d, and Miss Ellen M. Barr, only one of whom now survives, Her early education was secured in the public schools of this town.
On March 15, 1847, she was married to Sanford B. Perry, a native of Lester, Vt., who was a practicing lawyer in Medford, Mass., where they resided nine years. They removed to Chicago In 1856, where Mr. Perry conducted a prosperous business until the time of his death, Sept. 12, 1884. Their children were: Fred Barr, a merchant of New York city, William N., who died six years ago, and Dr. George. B., a dentist in Chicago.
Most of the time since her husband's death she has resided here with her sister, Miss C. F. Barr, Mrs. Perry was an estimable and beloved lady, possessing a charming personality, a characteristic Individuality and a sweet disposition. She was one of the most cordial of residents, and always responded with. a kind greeting for her large circle of relatives and friends.
While ill here the past autumn the same kindly spirit pervaded her sick room. Her sunset of life was radiant with kindness and sympathy for her associates. Her presence tended to ameliorate the asperities of life and stimulate nobler acts among humanity. Nature richly endowed her with charms, which she lavishly showered along her pathway. Two sons and a sister survive her. The funeral took place In Chicago, on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Fine day cool and windy. Wind west and southwest. Sunday school convention in our church today and very good attendance and good speaking and food. David with Henry Royce in cemetery. Hamish went to Surry Keene per noon train. I fixed church in morning and hall in afternoon for dance. Daniel P Maynard married today Susan Perry.
