Also, my Mother, Geraldine Keurulainen, worked for a year or two at Tricnit. Since my Mother never had a driver’s license, she rode with a neighbor, Leah Kolapakka, who worked at Tricnit for many years. The business employed many New Ipswich residents. They were paid little for the bulk work they did during long work days.
Nice photo of the Smithville Reservoir. When I visit my cousin we do a morning walk from his house to the reservoir. I worked with some the women on that float. The factory layout was such that socks started their journey from the extreme right and worked their way to the extreme left which held the shipping dept. The portion in the middle with the gable roof and many windows held the offices. The long main portion got pretty warm in the summer, nice to have windows. I don't remember seeing air conditioners.
Tricnit was the quintessential American success story for that time period. The factory provided a steady source of employment for both New Ipswich & Greenville.

Enjoyed seeing the Smithville Reservoir photo. It brought back memories when I’d join several friends in the winter for ice skating on the reservoir.
