Oiva Anderson's Rememberances of a Finn Kid, the town baseball field at the present Damsite 35 was well used by both Appleton Acsdemy and the very active town team. By legend at least, the longest- ever hit was a home-run by Dr. Cayward into the Finn section of the cemetery- no symbolism intended!
I did not know about Dr. Cayward's athletic abilities until 1970 when I was in my second year at UVM's College of Medicine. I took classes in Hall A of the old medical building, the same room Dr. Cayward sat in. In 1970 we moved to the new Given Building. Hall A is the title of the historical section of the UVM Medical Alumni magazine.
