Besides repairing town trucks, snow plows, and tractors Otto was an excellent basketball player and was a member of the 1937 Appleton team that won the Class B championship against Peterborough.
Appleton was the smallest class B school. It later was reclassified Class C and in 1960 (?) played in the Class C championship final n Rochester NH and lost in a very close game. Bill Kivela was on that team.
In those days Appleton's high school population was less than 100.
Is this the same Otto Weisman who was able to repair any piece of town equipment that broke down? Otto was married to Olga and they died within 3 months of each other.
BTW If you see Bill & Linda Kivela tomorrow, wish them a Happy Anniversary!
We do. I was an usher at her wedding 60 yrs ago. She and Liz had long phone conversations once a week. My research at Columbia centered on autoimmune disease with a emphasis on MG. I wish I could have found a cure. She achieved more in her life than most Americans who are or were healthy.

Growing up in New Ipswich I remember the blacksmith shop. It was a sad day when they had to tear it down. Thanks for the photos,
Happy Anniversary! 57 yrs, not possible, you & Bill look too young to have been married that long.
Thank you Bill. That's what happens when you get married at 18 and 21.
I think about you and Liz and how much you must miss Gretna.
We were best friends for 34 years, I miss her.
