Obituary - Miss Emily Farwell
January 27, 1895
NEW IPSWICH
Miss Emily Farwell, daughter of Russell Farwell, died, Sunday morning, after a long and severe illness, aged 56 years and 7 days. For 10 years she re- sided in Fitchburg, but most of her life was spent here. For the promotion of every good object either in church or state, Miss Farwell was ever alert. Her presence was welcome on account of her good judgment and sagacity in ail deliberations. Her avocation called her into most of the homes in town, where she made friends easily. Her secretive nature placed her above revealing anything that might harm or wound another. The Congregational church and Sunday school will miss her. For weeks she knew that she could not live. yet she told her attending physician and nurse that she desired to be patient. Her funeral took place. Tuesday after- noon. She leaves a father, mother and one sister, Miss Almeda. Miss Tappan, a most faithful and trained nurse, cared for her the past few weeks, and neighbors and citizens generally endeavored to mitigate her sufferings.
