There were several Chaunc(e)y Perrys associated with New Ipswich going back to the early 1800s. It seems the media insisted on having an 'e' in Chauncy. The earliest Chauncy Perry I know of was married to Abigail Stearns.

David Roger was plowing Chauncy Perry's, Sept 5, 1912. My friend Chauncy Perry says his grandfather never spelled Chauncy with an 'E'. Since the elder Chauncy was a professor at MIT and only spent summers in New Ipswich what was the plowing for? In addition to being a nationally known engineer he was also a violinist. I don't think he did much planting. The Perrys had 2 properties in town, one on Perry Rd and one on River Rd. The one on River Rd actually was his wife's property (Helen Tuttle). Not sure which one James is referring to.
