Life was not easy in New Ipswich at that time. Transporting sheep from NI to Marlborough in the winter with horses for a small profit, is mind boggling. Naming sheep and selling them has got to be hard. My grandmother named her cows. Her favorite was 'Marion'. She cried when Marion was sold.

A friend of mine named his cow "Burger". That seemed a little harsh.

Fortunately, my farm deals only in hay corn, and soybeans, no trade in animals. We get a lot of stray cats that get named. We welcome them, we have 2 barns, a grain shed, and 2 small outbuildings. Therefore, lots of rodents. Each has their own personality, and some prefer Purina, that's OK. One was a LA cat my daughter adopted while she was in Santa Monica. Named him Mo because he was hanging out at Mo's Meaty Burgers. After my daughter came to visit with Mo and left him with me to live on the farm he disappeared. Six months later my daughter came to visit and asked where Mo was, and I had to tell her he disappeared. To appease her I said "Let's go the Hudson Mohawk shelter and adopt another cat. We did. Who was there but Mo! After paying shelter $45 we got him back.

I think you are right. There was a Mabel Wheeler in the 1925 class of Appleton. She was the daughter of Ed Wheeler who used to live in Ollie's house.
