Would also like to thank the society for the photos, remember the fun times with my siblings in the town of Bankvillage. Remember jumping of this bridge with my brother Bill many times.
If you can't live in New Ipswich then Rensselaer County NY is a good second choice. I moved here in 1980 from Montclair, NJ. I was tired of commuting into Manhattan. I was on the faculty of the College of Physicians & Surgeons for 8 yrs and during that time 4 people associated with Columbia U were killed on the streets or in the subway. I had an offer at the same salary to teach pre-meds, graduate nurses, and PTs at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and took it. Bought an 1840 house on 91 acres., built a post & beam barn with skills learned from my father. If you Google 166 Tamarac Rd Troy. NY you can actually see a street view of the house. Google is amazing.
I'd like to see those murals. Helen Perry told me that a vagabond painted the murals in the 1750 house on River Rd. I wonder if it was the same painter. I suspected that bridge depicted above was the one on Country Rd. My sister Eva and I would jump off that bridge many times. My thanks to the photographers Like Bruce, John, and those that came before them. How many times have we heard people say as they fled a burning house say "I saved the family photographs"?
Hey John, I recently bought 48 Mason Rd. from the Johnsons, there is a lot of history with this house and rooms with Rufus Porter murals. If you would like to come and photograph before I move in let me know. Thanks Paul Oosterman 603 562 4562
Thank you. The Johnsons had let me photograph the murals a while back. If you find any artifacts that might be of interest to the Historical Society, please let us know. I'm happy it will be lived in. What are your plans for the garden and daylilies?
