This is a very interesting one, thanks John. Her name is Kaisa Serafina Syrijala Maki, married to Matti Nikoli Maki, she had 4 sons, Hjalmar, born 1904, Arthur, 1905, Toimi, 1908 and Walter, 1908. Hjalmar was born in Butte Montana, he married Josephine, graduated from Appleton Academy, became a teacher there and then became a much loved and admired Headmaster until his death in 1963. Walter owned the gas station for many years in Highbridge, N.I. he had 3 children Walter, Butch, Brenda, and Ruby.
Sad story. I knew Walter Maki. Hjalmar was my mother's and my sister's math teacher. Leo Nelson was noted for his strength and work ethic. He was my work partner on 12 hr shifts at the cider mill in Greenville. We started work at 4AM. George Leel's wife was a home 'looper' for Tricnit. I delivered unfinished socks to their home and picked up the finished ones.
When I said Leo was my partner at the cider mill I not sure readers understood what that meant. The cider mill had these large presses, 2 men to a press, one on each side. The real work came when the press had to be unloaded of the pulp which meant lifting a nylon blanket with over 100 lb of pulp embedded in it. Each man grabbed a corner of the blanket and rolled the blanket quickly and quickly yanked back so the pulp dropped off into a cavity on the floor which went to a holding bin. The pulp was sold to farmers. We started at 4AM because the bottlers came in at 7AM.
I wonder what Mrs Maki’s first and maiden names were and who helped take care of her younger kids when she died. Probably the older kids.

Little Toimi died before his first birthday.
Thank you, Carl, for your research.
