I think it’s the road leading from Appleton, on the left, to the turnpike, because I have a similar one from a slightly different angle, which I bought after some very competitive bidding, some years ago at the Children’s Fair auction, when they used to sell great stuff. At the time, the auctioneer said it was that road. I wouldn’t be surprised if John Preston identified the road for him. The bidding went on for so long that the auctioneer finally stopped it and told the three of us to choose among ourselves which pictures we wanted.
