Arthur Thayer went to Harvard in 1911, was a veteran of WWI, briefly worked at Macy's, and later in the 1920s was VP of Allen A Hosiery in Wisconsin and in 1938 became president of Allen-A Hosiery in Bennington, Vt. His son, Walter, was a fighter in WWII who flew 50 missions in the Pacific. He had a summer home on Tenney Rd. In November 1943 he was found dead in his kitchen in New Ipswich. It was ruled a suicide. He had an older brother Frank who drowned at age 14.

I was curious. Looks like John White ran for governor twice but fell well short of being elected.
